About Laura M. Shaw, MS/CAS, LMHC, CCPT
Laura is a born and raised Central NYer. She attended Long Island University at C.W. Post Campus and lived in the Tri-State area for 5 years, working in several schools where she taught elementary grade levels and earned experience in school counseling. She moved back to central New York in 2006 where she happily became a wife and mother.
Laura's career began in teaching, then moved onto school counseling. She further advanced her education by obtaining a Certificate of Advanced Study in Counseling & Psychological Studies from SUNY Oswego and received her license to practice Mental Health Counseling in 2015. Laura has been working in the counseling field for over 15 years and currently works in private practice as well as within the Syracuse City School District as the Developmental Behavior Therapist for the Early Childhood Program. |
Laura is a certified Child Centered Play Therapist and practices person-centered therapeutic approaches as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Additionally, she uses yoga and mindfulness practices to help clients find their inner-peace and relieve anxiety.
